Louis Lockwood, the Most Prolific Architect on Summit Avenue, by Tom Blanck

Thomas Blanck is an architect and a native Saint Paulite.  His practice specializes in restoration and historic preservation. He has worked on many Summit Avenue homes and has an avid interest in St. Paul's architectural history. Tom is prepared to talk to groups about Summit Avenue architecture, or about specific turn-of-the-century architects such as Cass Gilbert, James Knox Taylor, Clarence Johnston, Stem and Reed, Thomas Holyoke, and Louis Lockwood.

 

Summit Avenue's Restrictive Zoning History, by Ted Lentz

Summit Avenue resident and architect Ted Lentz worked with community based teams that created St. Paul's  Historic Hill National Historic District in the mid 1970s & the City of St. Paul Historic Preservation Commission and wrote or co-authored three books on preservation and community efforts in the neighborhoods that border Summit Avenue.  Ted spoke throughout the Twin Cities area on the restoration efforts in the area and continues to lead tours or speak on neighborhoods, buildings and the role of Summit Avenue in the Twin Cities and nationally.

 

Summit Avenue in the AIA Guide to the Twin Cities, by Larry Millet

Larry Millett is an author and architectural historian based in St. Paul. His most recent book is AIA Guide to the Twin Cities: The Essential Source on the Architecture of Minneapolis and St. Paul, published in 2007 by the MInnesota Historical Society Press.
