COMING SOON! SARPA is launching a Speakers' Bureau.
There's a lot going on at the University of St. Thomas these days. Check out WSNAC (West Summit Advisory Council) for details.
When a snow emergency is declared, no parking is allowed on Summit between 9 pm and 6 am. The City of Saint Paul declares a 20 hour Snow Emergency after snowfalls of 3 inches or more OR with an accumulation of 3 inchesof snow over several days. Snow removal begins on the evening a snow emergency is declared at 9 pm and continues the following day until 5 pm. Summit is a Night Plow Route. For information about St. Paul's snow removal schedule, call (651) 266- PLOW or click here to be redirected to the City's website. Summit Avenue is plowed frequently all winter long, even when a snow emergency has not been declared.
The National Preservation Conference is the premier event for historic preservation advocates, professionals, and enthusiasts. And for 2007, the conference was hosted in St. Paul! Expert practitioners led approximately 100 educational and field sessions, all designed to provide tools that participants could use to improve their own communities. SARPA had a lovely conference booth, and swapped stories and lessons with preservationists from across the country. Much of the event was housed in downtown St. Paul's Landmark Center. For more information, check out the National Historic Trust Conference website. (Hint: the conference blog is a wealth of information.)
June 24th was a hot Sunday, but that didn't stop garden enthusiasts from attending the Summit Avenue Garden Stroll. Hundreds came out to see what neighbors on Summit are growing in their gardens. The 2007 Stroll featured a wide variety of choices, from East to West up-and-down the Avenue, from huge formal gardens to small planted spaces, from well-established mature gardens to young gardens just beginning to fill out. For pictures and highlights, check out the Summit Avenue Residential Preservation Association's Garden Stroll page.
There is only one bridge on Summit Avenue, and it is located over the what some St. Paulites call the Shortline, but what is is officially named Ayd Mill Road. Look for new plantings sponsored by SARPA on the Summit Avenue bridge over Ayd Mill.
SARPA's Monthly Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7:00 pm. Members and guests are welcome. For more information, send a note to SARPA.
Volunteers from Burnett Realty put up American flags all over town on Flag Day. The image on the right shows flags decorating the urns and flowers that were donated by SARPA to grace Summit Avenue's bridge over Ayd Mill Road.

Details of the Heritage Preservation Commission (HPC) Meeting Schedules and Minutes are available online. The HPC generally meets the fourth Thursday of the month and its Design Review Committee generally meets the second Thursday of the month. Meetings are held at City Hall starting at 5:00 P.M. For the most current information, check the general City of St. Paul schedule.
